Government Job Age Calculator

Age & eligibility for SSC, Railway, bank and State PSC posts.

In short

Government-job eligibility is set by your age as on the notification cut-off date. Enter your date of birth, the post (SSC, Railway, bank or State PSC) and your category, and this calculator returns your exact age and whether you meet the limit once standard age relaxations are applied.

Govt Job Eligibility

Age as on cut-off date

Quick set:

Government job age eligibility

The government job age calculator checks your exact age as on the notification cut-off date against the age limit for the post you're targeting — SSC, Railway (RRB), banking or State PSC — and applies your category's upper-age relaxation automatically. Cut-off dates are commonly 1 January or 1 August; set yours with the presets or a custom date.

Every recruitment has a minimum and a maximum age. You must have reached the minimum and not exceeded the maximum (base limit plus relaxation) on the cut-off date, measured to the exact day. Standard relaxations are +3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), +5 for SC/ST and +10/+13/+15 for PwBD candidates.

Tip: If your exact post isn't listed, choose “custom limits” and type the minimum and maximum from the official notification to get an exact eligibility check.

Why the exact day matters

Being even one month over the maximum age on the cut-off date makes a General-category candidate ineligible, which is why an exact calculation — not a rounded age — is essential before you pay an application fee.

FAQ

Common questions

What does “age as on” mean for government jobs?
Your age is measured on a fixed cut-off date set in the notification — often 1 January or 1 August — regardless of when you fill in the application form.
What are the standard age relaxations?
+3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), +5 years for SC/ST and +10/+13/+15 years for PwBD candidates. Ex-servicemen and some other groups may get further relaxation per the notification.
My post isn't in the list — can I still use it?
Yes. Choose “custom limits” and enter the minimum and maximum age from the official notification for an exact eligibility check.
Is being slightly over the limit still eligible?
No. For the General category you must be within the maximum age to the exact day on the cut-off date; even a month over makes you ineligible unless a relaxation applies. For UPSC specifically, use the UPSC age calculator.
